 "Excellent image quality" 2009-09-03
By M. Litz (Downingtown, PA)
I bought this frame after reading a review in PCWorld magazine, and I agree that this is a solid, well-made digital photo frame. Pictures look great, and the frame is smart enough to orient pictures correctly (portrait vs. landscape). I use the frame excusively at the office, so the lack of wi-fi is not missed. It would be a nice feature to have, though, if I used the frame at home.

One small annoyance to note: I rotated a few pictures using Picasa before loading them on to the frame. Those pictures won't orient themselves properly. Other edits that I performed in Picasa (red-eye removal, image sharpening, etc) carried through to the images on the frame.

Other than that, I have no complaints about the frame. I'm very happy with the purchase.

"Great Piece, except for a few minor issues" 2009-08-18
By Balaji Iyer
Review is for the 8 inch version DPF D80.

Would definitely recommend this. Amazing piece of excellent finish, appeal, electronic design and functionalities except for few minor glitches.

The Pros:

1. 4:3 aspect ratio matches with that of many camera' settings. Almost no image cropping hassles (Unless images are shot in widescreen mode - a rarity)

2. 800x600 resolution implies amazing clarity - Gives a great feel to images

3. Random option in slideshow - It saves you from seeing the photos in the same order time and again

Cons:

1. No USB support - But can be managed by a one time investment in a memory card

2. The digital clock during picture slideshow does not show the present time - making it almost useless

3. No guarantee for proper display of computer modified images

 "great photo quality" 2009-08-05
By R. Miller
This frame has great photo quality and is very easy to use. Some reviewers complained that the word Sony at the bottom of the frame stayed illuminated. On mine it lights up when you turn it on, then goes off as the pictures start to display, so it isn't a distraction. I gave it only 4 stars because it doesn't play video. Otherwise it's a great digital photo frame, and I like it much better than the Kodak one I had previously.

"Pleased with Sony DPF-D80 8 Inch Pict Frame" 2009-07-27
By Sarah Miles (Dallas)
Just purchased and loaded the Sony 8 inch with a couple of hundred pics. Excellent screen quality. I have loaded MANY images that have been altered (using various programs but not photoshop) and all jpegs have loaded up just fine. Not one ? symbol. Also loaded up some pics that were saved as bmps and they're up and running just fine as well. No dead pixels. The SONY logo at the bottom of the frame can be "unlit" so it really isn't very noticeable. I'm comparing this to a Kodak frame that my sister has and this one is much much sharper. Works very well in a brightly lit room. Can't get over how clear the pics are. The only down side is that the menu system isn't completely intuitive, but the directions are well written, and frankly, I don't plan on dorking with it now that I've got it set like I want. My husband loves the calendar/clock feature. Remote works very well too....and once you read what the symbols on it mean, it's intuitive. The 8 in size is really a good size too. I have it set on autofit and haven't seen a cropped off head yet! On some of the pics there will be black bars, but since the frame is black, they really blend in and are not noticeable.

"good frame, shares a bad "feature" with HP units" 2009-07-14
By C. DeMers (Massachusetts)
I have a HP unit (DF820) with shuffle issues that are exactly the same as Sony (a friend has a DPF-D80). The issues are so similar that it seems like they're both working off the same code base! Programming 101, not rocket science.
