 "Wonderful Hand Strap" 2009-09-08
By Omegaman
Works like a charm. Soft, yet grippy. Only bad side is the anchor that screws into the base of the camera is a little bulky, but that's probably required for it to be durable. Overall, the hand strap is a very nice, less clumsy alternative to the neck strap.

 "Surprising" 2009-08-29

I was surprised how comfortable this grip strap is!

I have a Nikon D80 with a vertical grip and this product fits perfectly!

 "Useful, but ..." 2009-08-26
By JAM in SF (San Francisco CA)
It has taken a bit of getting-used-to, but I'm now pretty comfortable with this wrist grip, and would definitely recommend it. Like many other reviewers, the adjustable strap was backwards when it arrived; after fiddling with it for awhile and realizing that it wasn't working, I pulled it out and put it back the other way, and it worked fine. My only complaint has to do with the big, clunky attachment to the tripod screw -- it's no longer possible to put my camera (a Pentax K20D) down on a flat surface. I miss the flat-bottom of my dSLR! Otherwise, this is a really useful accessory for those of us who don't rely on the neck strap for carrying our cameras around.

 "Great Wrist Strap" 2009-08-25
By Steven Bassett (Attleboro Massachusetts USA)
Sometimes a product will come along that is worth more than you pay for it. This is one of them. The Opteka Professional Wrist Strap is a great value. I paid a little over 7 dollars for it! I own a Nikon AH-4 that I spent 75 dollars for. If I had known how comfortable the Opteka was going to turn out to be I never would have purchased the AH-4. Not that the AH-4 is not a great product. It is an excellent product but not worth 75 bucks for sure. The Opteka is the other way around. It is well worth more than the 8 dollars you pay for it.

It's well made with a solid screw on carbon fiber (or so it appears to be carbon fiber) mount that attaches to the tripod mount point on the camera. The mount screw has a follow through screw so you can attach a tripod to it.

The hand cushion is comfortable and has a silicone or rubber pad on one side to give you a good sure feel when wearing it. The nice thing about the Opteka is its comfort factor. You can wear it for hours without having to take it off. When you do take it off, it slides easily off your hand without having to "wriggle" out of it.

This is an excellent value for the money. If you want to dump your shoulder strap because they are bulky and can cause accidents (like the strap getting caught on something and the camera gets pulled along with the strap) go with the Opteka hand strap. It's small yet convenient and safer than a shoulder strap.

"Must have, especially for heavy cameras" 2009-08-24
By Michael F. Rudinsky (Seattle, WA)
I bought one of these for a Nikon D300. I normally use a 18-200 MM lens as a knockabout lens. While not the heaviest, it is not light.

This brace allows you to leave the neck strap at home. I agree with the posters who write about the benefits of freeing up the trigger finger for use. For me the reason was because of the angles and shape of the part your fingers wrap around.

Once your fingers are in the wrap or brace, you cannot drop the camera. It just works. You cannot go wrong.
