This set is a good value. Everything in the set is decent and just fine for light use. My first order came with the tripod a little damaged. I bought this kit for my Nikon D90. All the contents were of decent quality except the lens cleaning kit. The camera bag comfortably holds my D90 and the lens (18-105mm). I store my spare battery, charger, Lens Filters, etc in the bag and carry it along. The tripod is good and comes with a warranty too. The mini-tripod is useless, atleast for me. Lens protector is decent too. In short, worth every cent of its price.

My wife and I were in need of a tripod to film our child's birth, and this tripod stood strong. It supported our Canon S5 IS, and had no problem at all. If you are looking for a tripod to use every day, keep looking, but for that rare occasion this one works well. I wouldn't trust this tripod with any expensive heavy cameras, but obviously if you are buying a tripod for an expensive camera you wouldn't be here. I love the camera bag as well. We were using a small bag, but love the extra storage this bag has. The miniature tripod, and accessory kit is pretty cool as well. I am very satisfied with this kit.

I looked at all the frames at Frys abd Best Buy. The Sony SFrames had the deepest blacks and the whitest whites and photos really pop. Storage is plenty and file transfer and management all nicely done.



The slide show/view functions are great - clocks, calendars, when it was shot etc - but amazingly when you set it on "Random picture" and 'Random view" you see what seems like another hundred variations of layouts/calendars/scrapbook backgrounds not shown in the menu or the manual.



Drawbacks: doesn't play video. Expensive.

I think this digital photo frame is great. The quality is excellent and the set up is easy. I can easily navigate through the features. I had a bunch of baby pictures scanned for my daughters graduation, downloaded to a flash drive and I just plugged it in and let it play. The images were crystal clear. This bag is made of fair quality material. It fits my Nikon D40 and my small video camera, but it is a tight fit. There is not room to carry anything more in this bag. The small side pockets are nice for holding an extra video tape or battery. The removable strap is ok, but I use the shoulder strap from another bag, as it is more comfortable and of better quality.



I have just received my second bag. When I received my first bag and used it for 3 days, it began to fall apart so they agreed to send me a new one, free of charge. I am hoping that this one is better than the first.

I bought this bag for my canon 450D. The bag is high quality and well constructed..but very small! I have 3 filters, the camera with 18-55mm kit lens attached, a few memory cards and batteries and the camera manual, and it's a squeeze to get everything into it. It is also not very 'professional looking' if you want a professional image. I'd recommend getting the canon 2400 bag.

I Bought the monopod to help steady my camera when zoomed in. Took it to Morro Bay to film the seals and otters playing in the ocean. It was a real windy day so the monopod was not able to stabilize the camera much but it makes a dandy walking stick for hiking. Got a feeling it will do a good job if the wind is not too heavy

Solid piece of kit for the price. I've used it for about a month and have no major issues, only a few minor ones. The main issue is the rubber foot on the bottom screws in and out to either expose or conceal a steel spike for outdoor use. I screwed it out to cover it to use indoors on a gym floor. By the time I was done (about an hour), the foot loosened and worked itself back in, exposing the spike which was digging in the gym floor. Ooops. I think I might put a drop of loctite on it to see if it helps.

Good Points:

Picture quality is great.

Bad Point:

Compatability issues with pictures altered in Photoshop is a big problem.



Worst Point:

The lack of "randomness" in the random mode on this frame is frustrating and ridiculous. If I have several hundred pictures loaded, why does it get stuck on a few pictures and repeat those same pictures continuously? That's pretty disappointing considering technology these days and that's not a very complex function.

I did quite a bit of online research before purchasing this frame. The thing that sold me on this versus other digital frames was that other reviewers talked about how easy it was to use. So true! I did not want to struggle with getting this to work and it really is very easy. I love the features on it, particularly the automatic rotation of the picture for the correct orientation. Picture quality is great. One feature that's particularly nice is that one of the views shows both the picture and a clock with date/time at the same time, but the date/time is when the picture was taken. This is particularly "fun" because I loaded a number of pictures from vacations and the date is a nice reminder of when the trip was taken. The only negative is that it doesn't take BMP pictures. I scanned a lot of old photos using bitmap but the frame wouldn't read them. So I had to re-scan again as JPEG. One of the reasons I bought this frame was because of the large internal memory, but I quickly realized that I would need an external card. The only thing I would do differently is buy a 9" frame rather than the 7".

Read lots of reviews, learned that the picture quality was excellent, the viewing options perhaps excessive, and the price on the high side. All of this is true but I'm extremely pleased--and the price difference with the item on sale for $100 was about $25-50 and well worth it when compared to the alternatives I saw in the store and the one I gave to my daughter a year ago (costing $75). I should also mention that I had some difficulty downloading pictures from Picassa 3 on my desktop. I called Customer Support when the manual was of no help and Nina in Manilla walked me through it on screen. She was the best customer service person I've had in over five years! Congratulations, SONY!

Overall, I really like the Sony DPF. I gave one to my husband and my mother. They both love them.



PROS:

-easy to load pictures into frame

-nice picture quality; good color contrast and sharpness

-black frame is stylish and will fit with most decors



CONS:

-random feature is not very random. It repeats the same pictures over and over while rarely ever showing others. You can get around this just by not using the random setting.

-You may have to resize some pictures to get them to display at their best. Once you learn how to do this, it's not a problem, but if you are not really technically-inclined, it may take you a while to learn.



Overall, I really like this product and would buy it again. Probably will. I've taken old pictures from the 40's that were severely faded and cracked, digitally enhanced them on my computer and them put them on the frame. Pictures you could barely see now have a new life, and with this frame I have a place to display them. I've given that as gift to my aging mother, and she was very moved to be able to see those old pictures again. Now all my older relatives want the same thing, so I'm sure I will buy this product again.

Frame functions as expected. 9-inch picture is clear and has good color accuracy, contrast, clarity, and the remote works well. Accomodates USB and memory cards/sticks with ease.

The only downside is a lack of detailed instructions for using the remote; it is a very versatile unit but rquires "playing with" to learn the operation. Not at all dificult, and I recommend it.

Despite being warned on this message board about the device not displaying certain jpeg format pictures

that were generated by other tools such as Adobe Photoshop, I decided to go ahead and purchase it anyway.

Sadly, the warnings were confirmed. Some of the pictures that I wanted to display were from more than 20 years ago which obviously were scanned and processed using Photoshop on my Mac. The jpegs were not displayable on the DPF.

The Web was not of much help.

I finally did manage to get it all working (somewhat of a kluge).

I imported the non-DPF-displayable jpegs to Adobe Flash and then simply turned around and exported as

a jpeg. The resulting jpeg is DCF compliant (the only kind Sony can display).

Obviously, this is not a clean solution because it assumes you have the Adobe CS tools.

But if you are into digitizing old film photographs and want to display them on the DPF, this might help.
