The Sony webbie is perfect easy portability.I keep it in my purse or pocket and can take videos within seconds. No learning curve. Movies are really good for the price and size. I shoot in HD and this webbie rivals my expensive Canon HD camcorder. I can quickly put the movies on the web and send to friends in less the 5 minutes. It also takes still pictures but they are not as good as the video. If you want a camcorder you can toss in your purse or pocket and also impress people with its quality output - this is it.

I bought one of these to use as a simple and versatile camera/camcorder for everyday family events. I like the basic design and I love the simplicity of its operation. It has shown really good battery life compared with my more traditional style Evio digital camcorder. Unfortunately, that's where the positive comments end.
The problems I have with the unit is that it has no flash, and it takes extremely blurry pictures about 75% of the time. I know it's my own fault for not noticing it had no flash. I just assumed a modern CAMERA would have a flash, but no. As far as the blurry pictures go... I don't think I have unusually unsteady hands, and I'm not jumping around at all, but if I don't hold my breath and focus like a sniper taking a shot then it will usually come out horribly blurry and worthless. I've gotten into the habit of trying to take 3 or 4 copies of every shot hoping that 1 will look good.
I have also had problems with corrupted memory. I don't think it's the camera's fault necessarily, but I've lost 2 irreplaceable events because the memory card was corrupted and had to be reformatted. All in all, I'm shopping for another new camera.

What a great little camcorder which records directly to memory stick. The strongest feature is recording in AVCHD 1440x1080i. The bit rate is a bit low around 7MBps which is low compared to full featured camcorders and hence the image quality suffers. The audio codec is a stereo 2.1 rather than the Blu-Ray 5.1 standard so expect to do transcoding if you want to author this onto BD.
The still photo capability of 5M pixels is so far below current still camera (10 to 12M pixels) that feature is usless and there is no flash.
Battery life is great, the use of memory is amazingly small, so I'd suggest getting a memory stick in the 2GB to 8GB range.
The single biggest limitation is the lack of Image stabilization. If you hand hold, it will shake! I've found the "light touch" in holding it makes for a less shakey picture. I strongly suggest you invest in a tripod if you are taking serious video.
All in all a great price for a great unit.

Awesome camera! Took it with me to China. People thought it was a phone. Everything is HD now so having something so small and light during travelling is great! The only problem is I thought I can charge it through the USB cable to my laptop but I was wrong. Battery life is pretty long and the quality is great but too bad I couldn't use it for the rest of my trip since I couldn't charge it anywhere. Other than that I love this camra/camcorder!
