 "Best Value" 2009-09-17
By Donald Carten (Naugatuck, CT USA)
Having determined the features we wanted in a small pocket sized camera we settled on the Sony Cyber-Shot as the model we wanted. It was just then a matter of shopping various retail stores and web sites to determine the best value. Considering all the extras this came with, hands down it was the winner. The camera came in a couple of days and was just as advertised. We are very happy.

By Carolyn R Jarvie
Everything you need to get started in one package. Easy to setup & use, even for a novice. Takes great pictures that can be downloaded to your computer or viewed on a TV with the included cable. The memory stick holds a lot of images, so another stick is not necessary unless you will be far from a download center for an extended period of time. Great value for the cost. One thing to remember - the included batteries must be fully charged before the camera can be used. I would recommend this to everyone as their first digital camera or as a replacement.

 "great camera" 2009-08-17
By Heather Heather
I bought this camera for my mother. She is going to Ireland and wanted something with more mega Pixels than her older camera (3 years ago) and something that could do wider angle pictures. While this is not a true panoramic camera she can get the wider angle pictures. She loves the clarity of the pictures she gets.

This is a truly excellent camera that fixes the minor shortcomings of its prior model (the DSC-T700, which I had also owned). Shot quality and intelligent processing are great, and the HD video recording is a welcome addition. Also very stylish and will make you look good when you pull it out at a nightclub!

"Great video quality+very good image quality+ease of use=awesome camera!" 2009-08-21
By Gadgester (Mother Earth)
I've had my red T900 for a few weeks and here's a list of the things I love, in roughly decreasing order of importance:

- GREAT video quality. This camera shoots 720p videos at 30fps, and the quality both indoors and outdoors has far exceeded my expectations. I previously used a T100 but also use cameras from Fuji and Casio for some occasions, and the difference between the T900's 720p high-quality mode and the typical VGA fine mode on other cameras is like day and night. Not only do you get HDTV resolution, the colors are more vibrant and the clarity is just great.

- You can optically zoom the lens during video recording. This is a must-have feature for me as I mostly shoot video clips of my kids.

- Very good still picture quality. This is no digital SLR, for sure, and the image quality is probably not as excellent as Canon's and Panasonic's compact digital cameras, but it's still very good. I read some reviews before deciding on this camera and I had worries about picture quality, but they were dispelled the minute I reviewed the still images on my PC. Very good contrast and clarity, and they make great prints.

- Smile shutter. I never thought I'd buy into this feature, but now I absolutely love it! You can set the sensitivity to three levels, and you can even choose "child priority" or "adult priorit"! And it really works! This is just totally awesome for taking still shots of my kids. (Smile shutter does not work in video mode.)

- Large 3.5" touch-screen LCD. There're no conventional controls, just touch-screen, like most Sony camcorders. The LCD is 1920x480 in resolution, and the menu text looks a little jagged, but you'll love its brightness, fast speed, and clarity for viewing images.

- Fairly easy to use. Sony employs a top-level HOME menu system with sub menus, but it's not too confusing, just a tad harder to figure out the advanced stuff than on an, say, iPod touch.

- Stylish and feature-rich. This is quite thin but still features 4x optical zoom with optical stabilization. The zoom also works in movie-recording mode. It takes Memory Stick PRO Duo cards up to 16GB. Battery lasts about 150 pictures with flash. Not bad. It's light-weight so easy to carry in a pocket, too.

In short, I love this digital camera. It's perfect for all occasions.

 "Absolutely Amazing!!!!!!!" 2009-07-14
By Davina Taylor (Virginia)
Get this camara!!!! It is so cool. I purchased this camara after a pool attacked my Nikon Coolpix (Ok, I dropped it in the pool). I had been thinking about getting a new camara anyways because that camara is NOT a point and shoot camara. Plus with a new baby i kept missing memory moments since that camara had a delay when it came to snapping the picture. I am so glad I got this camara. It looks so chic. When I first cut it on I was a little intimidated by all the buttons on the touch screen, but don't worry this camara does all the thinking for you. For the most part the buttons are for viewing because this camara will deciede what setting works best for the picture your taking. This camara is also wonderful for the new parents out there. There is no delay in taking pictures and there is an awesome "smile" feature that detects when a person is smiling and takes the picture for you. You will need to purchase a memory card as when I first opened it and took pictures I was only able to take 2 pictures with the camaras memory. Did I not mention that the camara plays music for you to add to each photo? (I thought this was a fun feature). For the men thinking of buying the bronze color, I bought the bronze because i wanted a classy camara and I felt this was a very classy color. Once I got it I was delightfully surprised that the bronze has a bit of a purple hugh to it. Being female I thought this made the color even better, but I could see a man possibly not liking the color. I've only had the camara for 3 days but at this point I can't think of any bad things to say about it. This is the best camara I've ever had though I do miss the WiFi feature that my Nikon had (you can email picutures directly from the camara from any WiFi area). Get this camara!

 "Excellent Camera!" 2009-06-29
By D. Spogreev (San Diego, CA USA)
After reading some bad reviews about this camera i wasn't sure if it's good enough yet... i own Sony T100 that i got couple years ago (8Mpx camera) so i wasn't sure if this camera is improved enough to replace my older Sony. After hesitation for couple of month i got it for my birthday from a friend. IF I KNEW HOW GREAT THIS CAMERA IS I WOULD BOUGHT IT LONG TIME AGO! this camera is unbelievable! My biggest issue with my older camera is that i never really used those special presets like beach/landscape/portrait/twilight/etc because it was sort of painful to go through menu and change it each time lighting conditions change, to say true for me those features in my old camera were totally useless. This camera - you just put it in auto (iSCN) mode (i put it in iSCN+ mode) and camera always takes dual shots when needed - example, i am shooting a person with a lot of back light, for example against a bright window - this camera will take two shots automatically, first shot is optimal settings as most cameras would set, then second shot with different settings - this is totally awesome because you can later pick what picture to keep and what picture looks good, most of the time i like them both!

Another great picture is smile shutter. i used to use timer on my older T100 to take pictures of me with my partner but then we had only 10 seconds to do that and after each shot i had to run back and put timer again and so on - quite annoying sometimes so i was researching cameras with remotes and found none. Guess what, you don't need one with this camera - your smile is your remote! You can just put this camera on tripod or whatever surface and just smile... this camera will take picture each time you smile, doesn't matter how many times you smile, once you select smile shutter it will keep taking all smiley pictures until you stop!!! this is absolutely fantastic feature!!! very very useful!

Another feature is that this camera automatically detects if you blinked in the camera (only works when face detected) so if you blinked it will take another shot right away automatically!

for me that was enough already, i was like a kid in a candy store but then i took it with me to a beach to test it more...

Picture quality - outstanding, brilliant colors, crisp and simply beautiful.

Video - i read a lot good reviews about the video quality but i didn't expect it to be so crispy, smooth, vibrant and image stabilization quite surprised me - really really nice job Sony! WOW. i Own Sony's new high-end HD camcorder so i like to film with perfect quality but this camera definitely can substitute my camcorder in some situations for sure.

Another fun feature - if you shot someone who doesn't like to smile this camera can make them smile, seriously once you take a picture go to edit and add a smile! crazy! ;)

anyway, if you are looking for a camera that would take really good shots and you like to press only one button (like me) then you may like this camera. I do like my pictures perfect but really cannot see myself changing settings every time i need to take a shot, i'd go crazy if i'd have to do that. I wanted a camera that will self adjust each time i take a shot, example - you are on a tour bus around paris and taking all kinds of shots, then going into cathedral and taking shots in much darker conditions without changing settings - i got all of this with this camera and then some!

Bad things about this camera -

1. battery life sucks so get more, i got 3 generic ones for less than $10 each on amazon and they will be well used on my longer trips... I think this big LCD screen sucks all power from the batteries quickly.

2. In auto mode you cannot switch flash to Fill-In mode, the only two modes available are Auto and Off. I use flash/fill flash pretty much all the time, even on the sunny beach to make pictures look perfect without any hard shadows but now...

hope this helps.

 "great camera and package" 2009-10-06
By Deborah Salter (St. Louis, MO)
You already know this is a great camera. When you walk around with it in "easy" mode, the camera constantly adjusts to distance and lighting. All of my pictures turned out great. The camera has 11MB of internal memory. You must have a memory stick to use this camera. At 4000x3000 pixels, the images will be about 5MB each. You'll only get two on the internal memory.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290/L 12.1 MP Digital Camera in Blue + Sony Digital Camera Case + 4 GB Mmeory Stick + Deluxe Accessory Kit

This package of camera, case, memory stick, extra battery, 4.5" tripod, screen protectors, separate battery charger, camera cleaner, and USB 2.0 stick reader is really worth it. Ace delivered very promptly. The camera case is a snug fit. I put the screen protector on perfectly and, as put it in the case, the screen protector became caught on the soft inside of the case and wrinkled. A minor problem but unfortunate. There is a small pocket on the front of the case. An extra battery will fit in it, but that isn't what it is designed for.

I am very pleased with this purchase.

"Great service, great package and great camera" 2009-08-26
By J. Cappe (Northern Virginia)
I ordered this camera on Saturday, it was shipped Monday, and arrived Wednesday in perfect condition. Well packed, everything as it should be in the package. The price was very good for everything you got. The little tripod is small, but very utilitarian, and as an added bonus also works with my Sony H10.

Kudos to Ace Digital Photo for prompt service and good response time--I would give them the highest recommendations!

I wanted this little camera to supplement my H10 for some west coast scenery shots that I may enlarge and put on canvas. This camera fits easily into the palm of my hand, and can be tucked into my larger camera's case.

The camera worked perfectly and since I already had the software loaded, I was able to see results immediately.

The camera is easy to use, easy to understand, and takes great pictures. It is quite small, and you'll be able to put in a purse or pocket. I love the dark blue color, and the front has a "microridge" kind of surface (feels a little like the ridges on a plastic Fresnel lens), which provides a non slippery surface to prevent your fingers from sliding off. The dark silver trim complements the camera nicely.

Yes, you'll have to use lens protectors and/or keep lens cleaner handy, because the minute you touch the back screen, it smudges. The screen is bright enough to see in daylight, which is good (because there is no viewfinder).

The Amazon price for this camera package is a good one--Target sells this camera for $250 without any extras. I haven't used it at night, but I think it will be okay or I'll be able to figure out how to get to where I want it.

"I am happy with this Product" 2009-06-14

I am very Happy with Sony W290. I had compared the features of W300. surprisingly Sony has reduced the number of features in W300 as compared to W290 and also the optical zoom is reduced in W300 to 3X from 5X. I still need to explore a bit to get good pictures in night. Overall am happy with the product.

Lastly, one of the Battery in the Package is not working properly. Not sure whether i will get a new battery.

 "Just got it" 2009-10-03
By M. Case
I love it! However, I have two complains. The first one is, I don't like the touch screen because finger prints show up immediately and they don't come off easily. The touch screen isn't sensitive so you really have to press hard on it & then it leaves this ugly finger print mark. So now I just use a hair pin to touch the screen. My second complain is the camera seems sooo fragile. I use to have the old Sony cybershot & I compared the two in my hand, and the older one feels much more durable. I'm really nervous I am going to break this new one...let's see how long it lasts. I wish Sony would just make the cameras more durable.

 "Camera surpassed my expectations" 2009-07-05
By William J. Figie (Cocoa, FL USA)
I was looking for a new camera because my wife's old Canon Powershot had died (a 5 year old camera). She gets all my hand-me-downs so I gave her my other Canon Elf camera. This was a good camera but it had problems with the lense and its image stabilizing feature. You see, I ride roller coasters and put camera in my pocket sometimes and it had a easy power on button and would try and extend the lense and not be able to so it would jam. I had sent it back to the manufacturer twice in less then a year. So I was kind of glad I had to buy a new camera. I was thinking of the DSC-T900 but decided that the DSC-T90 was basically the same but cheaper (smaller display I think is all that is different for almost $100 more). I am still learning all the capabilities of this camera but it really surpassed my expectations. I like to take night shots of roller coasters and around amusement parks and it was GREAT at doing this when I set the ISO setting to max. It was great and very easy to use. Menus are very intuative. Love that it protects the lense with the cover and no lense getting extended. Plus it records video nicely and is 12.5 Mega Pixels. I am totally happy. I even showed a slideshow on the flat screen TV in my hotel room (including music supplied by the camera). My only complaint is that I probably only get about 40 to 50 shots on a charge. I also had a problem with the memory stick I purchased but I think it is a bad memory stick. I would suggest getting a backup battery and alwsys download your photos ASAP to a desktop or laptop to protect them from getting screwed up in the camera. I just love this camera so far.

The battery installation is awkward and the battery hold down is not contructed the best. I am sure that it will break within the first yeat. The picture quality is outstanding and it is still one of the easiest point and shoot cameras on the market. I take over 20k pictures a year and for the price I would recommend. The ability to shoot underneath things without having to bend over is also a great feature. Yes I would buy another but I wish they would fix the battery hold down,

 "Good little "back-up" camera" 2009-08-11
By M. Blackwell (Lynchburg, VA)
Not long ago, my trusty "old faithful" Canon stopped working and I began to shop around for a new camera. The newer models don't have some of the nice features that "old faithful" had, and so I was frustrated... could I do without a viewfinder? Besides, I knew the controls of "old faithful", and didn't want to have to go through the learning curve again. Then, miraculously, I learned that the issue my camera was experiencing was covered by Canon - for free - even though it was long out of warranty. So, I sent it off, and was told promptly that it was indeed going to be fixed.

Sorry... that's a long lead-up to my view on this Sony. I had a couple of events that I didn't want to attend without a camera, and so when I spotted this Sony on sale recently, I snapped it up as a "back-up" camera, to use while my other camera was being repaired, and to have for those occasions when I really didn't want a larger camera, or when there was any chance the camera might be at risk (bike riding, for example). I got the camera home (with the 2G card I had purchased), and was delighted to see that the controls were very similar to those on the Canon. The learning curve was very short. I love the large LCD screen (good thing, since there is no viewfinder), and although there aren't as many shooting modes as I have had on the Canon, these are certainly sufficient for a casual photo shooter! Even better... when you set a mode, the LCD shows you the selection you have made (nice for those whose eyesight isn't what it used to be). And there are some new features that "old faithful" didn't have... stabilization, face recognition, etc. I found the close-up feature to be more difficult that "old faithful" because it had a shorter range of focus, and was more sensitive to movement (which, in a tiny camera, is always an issue). I noticed the problems others have commented on regarding flash-outs, white, colors, etc., and after playing with the camera I can say that these problems can be overcome - you just have to know your camera better.

So... long story short is that I think this is an excellent little camera for a "back-up"!! In fact, there may be times I'll reach for this instead of "old faithful" (which has been returned to me in perfect condition!!). If you're a first-time digital camera user, this is a good choice... you'll learn lots as you use it and review the manual periodically. It's at a price-point that makes it a great gift for graduates or special birthdays or other celebrations, and it fits in your pocket... easily.

The Sony DSC-S750 offers a lot of camera for the money. The unit is very simple to use, and comes with a rechargeable battery, which is a great thing. If you've ever used a regular battery in a digital camera, you know how fast they go. Since the battery is rechargeable, you won't be spending a ton of money on those "Photo" batteries either! This camera offers multiple quick set modes for taking pictures in the most common environments, so you don't need to be a techie to choose the right settings. While the camera is easy to use, it does offer some more in depth features for those folks who want to tweak their photos or just want to play with the advanced settings. With a large screen for viewing your pictures, you will be able to check them immediately to make sure you got the shot you wanted. The removable memory stick makes getting pictures printed at a local store easier than ever. Just pop out the memory stick and take it with you!

The Sony DSC-S750 has been my favorite camera for a year now. I don't take a ton of pictures, and I'm not a professional, but the pictures turn out great, and the camera is easy to use.

 "Sony DSC-S750 7.2MP" 2009-06-12

This is an older model, but still takes great pics. It has a re-chargeable battery pack that seems to last longer than the re-chargeable AA NIMH's used on the DSC-S650. Also it doesn't come falling out when the door is open.2-Gig memory card stores over 10K pics on J-peg for E-mail. Saved $$ by purchasing an open box. Looks & performs as new. Has features I'll never use,but just point & click & your done. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a digital camera except(yawn)a snobby/nerdy Tech geek which could spot flea poop in black pepper. They'll have to spend more $$$ to be satisfied.

"Not a very good camera" 2009-05-03
By M. Fettig
I received this camera for Christmas and I have to say...Both my LG Chocolate and my wife's LG Voyager cell phones take better pictures. Indoors, outdoors, close, distant, all the pictures were pretty bad. I found someone to buy it on that other resale site. I'm looking to buy a Canon.
