Sounds like one the top earphones in the market. Hard hitting bass, and clean highs. Perfect for techno. The cord is the only problem. When it rubs up agains your shirt or your collars it creates a very annoying scratching noise if your music is turned down low. Very, very irritating, and I have had these earphones about a year now and I'm still not used to the noise. I usually turn up the music high so drown out the scratching sound. Also, The soft fabric has torn in one place and it exposed the plastic wire underneath.



There is an advantage to the soft fabric wires though, it does not bunch up or get twisted. So you wont have to constantly untwist them like other plastic wires.



Overall, excellent sound, but annoying at time if the music is low or during song transitions.

First off, I have owned these Zune V2 headphones for over two years now on a Zune 120GB device; I am on my 2nd pair currently though. Portable headphones from any manufacturer do wear out with daily rugged use, as I give mine. The magnetic connector for them is just great, you know, the headphones are not dangling independently of each other all over the place. The speakers in them are excellent, they sound very good and the cord is made of tangle resistant woven material, and I have never had any problem with interference by it (the cord) hitting any objects, including metal. In fact, I read the review here that someone got interference with a shovel banging into them, but I tried hitting them (the cords) and everything else that I could think of, they never sounded better even as I was trying to distort the sound any way that I could. Even when I get an IPhone or any other portable device that will require headphones, I plan on using these. They may be a little expensive but they are totally worth it, you will never go back to 'other' portable headphones again, the noise reduction is standard for in-the-ear headphones also, meaning good. Bye-the-way, the great magnets and super sounding speakers are a little big, compared to `other' cheaper lower end portable headphones out here, but I will never go to anything else than this type of headphones.

I snagged these when they were selling at a 50% discount right before they were discontinued. The first time I used them, I fell in love. The sound quality is superb and they are very comfortable. The cord will fray but that shouldn't cause a problem. Moving will transmit a sound to your ears and it's annoying at first, but you quickly get used to it (at least I did) and it's definitely not as bad as some people are saying.



Here's the bad:

I bought these in like late August and the right side just recently became really faint (this was in mid-March). I wish these headphones weren't discontinued because I would definitely buy another pair.



Overall, these are still the best ear-phones I have ever used. Bass is perfect, sound quality is better than all I have tried, they are very comfortable, hardly noticeable & never fall out even while running, and block outside sound really well. Also, you think you'll never use the pouch but you do :)

I've had these for a month and use them every few days including at a gym, and on a plane or playing video games. I consider myself above average when if comes to being picky about sound; I occasionally moonlight as a sound tech.



I've been happy with these. The sound reproduction is fairly accurate; a little light on the base but not in a bad way.



Sound isolation is not perfect with the rubber tips and my ears are small so I kind of have to work hard to get a good seal on my ear canal.



That said, when I got these for about 20 bucks, I would still pay about 30 for them if these broke. For my generic listening use; I think I got a good deal.



If this is your first time buying in-ear headphones, keep this mind: Most people aren't really as finicky as they say they are about sound.



I suggest you give these a try. for about 30$ before you hand over more than double that for 'high end' ones.

I love these head phones. I fist tried them when I bought my zune and they came with them. They lasted me longer than the zune did lol. So i decided to buy another pair from walmart and use them in my ipod touch. They are great again. I love these headphones. The problems people say in other reviews are true but the sound quality beats it. Buy them from walmart or bestbuy for $30

This is my 2nd pair of these. My 1st pair was damages presumable because I wrapped the wire and damaged the wire inside. I loved them so much I ordered a 2nd pair. I noticed the new wire is shorter, and the ear buds arent as soft or pliable as my previous pair. But, theyre still comfortable, they fit well, and the sound quality is good.

This headphones really isolates background noise. It is good enough that I use it as a earplug.

The built has a rubbery feel. Bass quality are really impressive.

Not recommended when driving because you won't hear the road noise outside the vehicle like

Interestingly, these JVC Marshmallow earbuds are a bit controversial - notice that the comments are all over the board - there's alot of love and "not love" here. Having owned these for several months now, I believe I can put my finger on a few salient points:



1. These are finicky to fit. I found it took me over a month of toying with these, and switching back and forth between the different foam earpieces before I settled on a fit. It's a combination of pressure and size, and it's not easy to find the "magic point" where they leap to their fullest sound. However once they do, they really take off. The MOST sensitive to fit is the bass response - off just a little and it effectively vanishes. I also found a substantial difference in bass response just between the foam earpieces. I'm not surprised that many people simply run out of patience with these, and can't or won't ever get 'em right, which is too bad because the sonics are worth the effort.



2. These are very sensitive to the quality of your MP3 player. I have both "high end" MP3 players (Creative and Rio), and several no-name players, and the sound difference between them in the JVCs is quite dramatic. With the off-brand players (no manual EQ) there simply isn't a setting at which these headphones sound great, even with the proper fit. However, with the "high end" players, the sound quality is very, very good.



3. When you get the JVCs right, they are very, very good. I am an audio enthusiast, and I have quite a stomach for fiddling with my systems to get things right. When you get the JVC Marshmallows right - proper fit, quality MP3 player, hi resolution music - these things spring to life. The box touts the bass frequency down to 8MHz (!) BUT they do run strongly below 40hz with proper material, and it's quite clean and sharp. The midrange is not bad per se, just a bit laid back - "soft" would be the word - and not at all offensive - in fact for many types of music, it works well - for instance, strong male vocals on heavy recordings can be fantastic - the marshmallows do Chris Isaak at 320kbps MP3 beautifully. Highs are bright and airy - they need no help from either the material or the MP3 settings, and can easily be over-sharpened.



When you get 'em right, the JVC Marshmallows reproduce very, very good sound, and have an easy "listenability" to them - you can use them all day without fatigue. Just don't over-brighten or over-bass them too much. And they are an excellent training ground for eventually moving to higher end in ear systems, since the way you put these in your ears is essentially the same as with the Big Dollar boys. So 5 stars for sound quality, less a star for the finicky fit. However, I applaud JVC for introducing a product to the low end market (under $20) with so much in common with more expensive earbuds, including very good sound.

I ran with these again today, and am starting to think that for running I gave them too many stars. I spent way too much of my run having to adjust them and re-insert them. At some points, as they first started to work themselves loose in my ear, they created a thumping noise in my ear with every step as the marshmallow vibrated against my ear. Another problem with these, is that they are so stubby, that the bent part of the bud pushes against the lower part of your ear when fully inserted. After 30 or 40 minutes of running, this actually gets painful.



Again, these might be fine for sitting on an airplane or studying but for working out, especially running, they are NOT RECOMMENDED.





**Base Review**

I bought these yesterday at Walmart. They charged me $19 plus tax, so you are definitely much better off buying these at Amazon.com. Learn from my mistake. Yes, for some products, Walmart is cheaper but not for much.



I have almost never used the stock Apple iPod headphones. Those Apple ones don't fit nor stay in my ears very well. Because of the bad fit, they don't sound very good.



These JVC headphones are supposed to fit well and isolate noise. They do both better than the Apple headphones, and slightly better then the similar Sony ear buds that I have been using for years. The Sony's that I'm comparing these against have silicon replaceable buds, similar but not as foamy as the JVC "marshmallow buds". I replaced the Sony's with these, because they stop working after about four months of running with them. I assume this is because of sweat getting into them and corroding the speakers. I don't know whether or not this will be an issue with the JVC headphones yet, but if they stay in place better than the Sony ones, they should. I think the Sony ones get so much sweat in them, because of constantly having to be re-inserted in the ear, and therefore pushing sweat in the speakers.



The noise isolation of these headphones definitely works well, especially for the money. When you first insert them, it is very noticeable, and would work very well for lawn work or flying. I wear Bose QC2 headphones for flying and these aren't quite up to that level, but for the price, they are certainly a cost effective alternative.



When I first started running with JVCs, I was very impressed with how well they were staying in place in my ears. I was starting to think that I would complete my whole run without having to reinsert or adjust them. That lasted until I started to get pretty saturated in sweat. I don't know if there are sweat glands in your ears, but I was thinking that if they stayed in place, they wouldn't get sweat on them, and would therefore stay in place. Either they loosened up on their own at this point, or the sweat caused them to work free, but eventually, they came loose and I had to reinsert them.



The sound quality of these is very good, at least as good as the Sonys.



In summary, these are the best running headphones that I have used, but are not perfect. I recommend them.

Got them for my motorcycle. They work fine and the quality is good. I find the JVC HAF66B's a little more comfortable and bloc outside sound better. I like the ability to push a slide up the wire to bring it tighter under my chin and pretty much elimiate any cable noise.

I've had a lot of earphones (Shure e3c, XtremeMac FS1, Sony MDRs) over the years and am usually good at losing them, so when I saw a deal to get JVC Marshmallow's in black for $8, I pounced on it. I was not expecting much but they block out sound well, fit comfortably, have adequate cord length and sound like they are worth 5x the purchase price! These earbuds are sturdy and have lasted longer than the others (though I lost the Shures..oops). I've used these in the subway and on planes and they preform well. Really for the $9-15 price range they sell for, you cannot go wrong.

The earbuds are fantastic! They're not the best, but for their price, they're certainly something to consider.



I was looking for noise-cancelling earbuds, but noticed that all models were out of my price range. I wanted to look for something that was around $15 considering. I'm not a audiophile so I'll settle for something cheap (as long as it can still deliver on the sound), while at the same time, cause me to not go deaf when I need to turn the music up so I can ignore the background noise. This of course led me to search for noise-isolating earbuds.



These noise-isolating earbuds aren't perfect, but pretty darn close! For the first time, I could actually walk around and mow the lawn without having to kick my iPod into max volume, potentially damaging my ears even more. At the 1/8th level of the max volume, the background noise was faint, but still there. I could hear my music perfectly by the time I pushed the volume of my ipod to slightly over 1/4th max volume. This is definitely something to use if you don't want to blow your ears out trying to listen to music in a noisy area.



I'll have to add however, that I noticed that the bass seems to be diminished. It can't reproduce the bass as well as the earbuds that come with the iPods (though it's not really a concern to me). The cord length also isn't as long compared to the iPod earbuds. It's long enough for when you're sitting down and listening to music, but it was just barely adequate for me with the iPod reaching into my front pockets. I'm not very tall so others will definitely face difficulties unless you get one of those arm-straps to hold the iPod.



Putting them on the first time is awkward as well. They feel uncomfortable the first few times you use them, but you get used to it. If you haven't used these very often, you have to kind of hold down the foamy/rubbery part of the earbud for a few seconds for it to stay down before putting in your ear. After you insert them into your ear, they expand, which again, may feel uncomfortable for the first few times you use them.



Summary:

Pros:

+Can't beat the performance at the price

+noise-isolation works very well



Cons:

-Cord length may not be long enough for others (though to be fair, it's difficult to find any earbuds with a good length comparable to the iPod's, at a decent price)

-Bass not as strong as others.



Note: Discomfort may be experienced in first few uses which can be overcome over time.



Additional thoughts: for whatever reason may be, I've noticed that these didn't tangle as easily as my other earbuds. Maybe it's just me though? It's a great product overall.

I've had three of these (lost two) and they're very nice. They're durable, the foam earplugs stay attached and reduce sound but not so much you can't hear ambient noises like approaching cars in your blind spot.



I wear them around my neck and tie the headphones and jack together with an overhand knot. Over time the wire or insulation has hardened into the shape I keep them in, but it's not so much that it's annoying.



The headphone jack's strain relief is flexible and durable. Most of the time it's been plugged in to my phone in my pocket, but the connection between the wire and jack hasn't been damaged. With other headphones I've owned the connection has worn out producing static and drop-outs in the earphones.
