I really regret taking this hood to the Canadian Rockies with me. It ruined half of my pictures because it got in the frame and you can see this black rubber in the picture but you don't always see it in the view finder.

The Opteka screw-in hood, works. That's the short of it. If you're looking for a cheap, collapsible hood, this will suit most people fine. However, if you are shooting wide angle (such as with an 18-55mm lens), you will have the hood visible on the lower half of your range. At ~18-20mm, even with the hood in the "collapsed" position, some slight vignetting in the corners was apparent. One nice feature that I do find helpful is being able to attach filters before and/or after the hood.



PROS:

+ As a hood, it works fine.

+ Screw-in feature is appreciated

+ Good price point



CONS:

- Visible in wide-angle shots, even when collapsed out of view

This hood lens works great. it fits perfectly into my canon 50mm f1.8 lens and also w/ a filter on! :) It's rubber so you're able to push in the hood so it makes room to place back into your camera bag. I recommend this product and plan to order thru this co. again.
