Well I read everyones reviews and decided to get this set, I go through headphones like no other. Its hard for me to find a pair of headphones to stay in my ear when running or if I find one that loops around my ears they just flap or they just really dont work for me. So I purchased these and I do have to say they are by far the best headphones that I have ever used especially for the price. I workout a lot I run and do a lot of kickboxing and never have yet had a problem with them, the sound is great too... I know some reviews say they dont like them and there worthless but there usually is a bad egg in the bunch its just a chance your willing to take and they sure worked out great for me.

These headphones are the fifth and hopefully final set of earbuds I've purchased over the last couple of years, and by far the best. They are inexpensive, they come in a handy dandy carrying case, and while the cord is a bit long, and one needs to be a bit creative in making sure they don't become a frustrating knot, that is a minor inconvenience for their many strengths. For example,of the earbuds I've owned/tried, they are the loudest and the most durable, and they are as comfortable as any I've had. I've owned the Brookstone retractable earbuds, which were my favorite, but after three months one of the earbuds quit working. I've had that experience with other earbuds, too: often they sound great, look and feel wonderful, but then one of the earbuds starts shorting out. I only use these when exercising, or occasionally on business flights.

These replacement tips aren't very good. The material is a lot thinner and flimsier than other silicon tips. It doesn't fit into the ear very well or stay there for that reason. Apparently, some people like it this way. I don't. I bought these to replace lost Skullcandy tips, and I was dissatisfied with the product. If you can, try to order the stock tips that some companies offer, rather than these replacement tips.

These are very good sound isolating headphones when they work. I like the over the ear design of the units and how they fit inside the ear canal. With plenty of options and sizes almost anyone will be able to find a good fit. They really do a good job of passively blocking out the outside noise. I like that because I don't need to crank the volume up all the way on the MP3 player.



The main problem with the headsets and some subsequent iterations of this model is the poor quality of the cords. I'm on my 3rd unit in 3 years and this cord just went after 9 months of use. Good thing for Shure's 2-year warranty, because you'll probably need it. The good news is that the support service is fast & responsive. But you kind of don't want to deal with that on a $70+ item.

I've owned these phones for about 3 years now. These are the phones I travel with a few times a year. Their compact size makes them ideal. I used to travel with Grado SR80's, but their size was annoying. The Grado's are great and if you don't mind the size, I would highly recommend them.



I initially had some issues with the fit. With any in ear head phone the fit is important for both comfort and the sound quality, so make sure you get that right. Otherwise they will be uncomfortable and not sound as good as they can. I ended up using the smallest foam size and I have to very carefully compress the foam before I put it on. I also have to jam it in pretty good into my ear. But once in they really do block out other sounds, at least as good as other cheap active noise canceling headphones. This also leads to one of the problems I have with them, after a few hours they become uncomfortable.



The build quality on these is also very good. The cables are nice and thick and look like they will last a good long time. Other headphones I have had, like the Etymotic, had thin flimsy cables which made me concerned as to whether they would last without breaking.



Sound quality wise, they are very good. Much better than the units that comes with an iPod and they are also better than the Etymotic 6i I also owned. The bass is ok, not great. Mids and highs are very good. Another good thing is that these are medium efficient, so you won't need to push the volume all the way up to get a decent volume out of them.



I paid $70 for these and I think they are a good value at that price. I am once again shopping for new phones and will use these as my comparison. I would ideally want small phones that sounded as good as my Grados

I actually like those earphones. I like the sound, the extra length of the wire, and the noise isolation.



But there is on big problem.



When the wiring of my first pair broke after maybe two years of constant usage I got the same model again last year in May 2009. I thought that heavy usage over two years pays its toll. Now, in January 2010 one wire again is broken, and this time from the inside. After less than 8 months of usage I am facing again wire problems. And this time there is nothing visible from the outside, but one channel goes on an off depending how I move the wire.



I use the earphone on a daily basis on my way to and from work. If I do not use them I wrap the wire around my iPod video. My first pair had a broken isolation close to the ear piece and you could see the wires inside. I treat them very carefully and I am very confident that the damage must have come from aging.



My impression is that the isolation does not age very well. As I said, there is no damage to the isolation but by playing with the wire I can locate the area were the wire inside must have broken. This is very disappointing.



Today I ordered earphones from a different company.

I actually bought these to use with an iTouch and to use inside my motorcycle helmet when I ride. They are decent head phones with pretty good sound but I didnt like the way they fit in my ears when my helmet was on so I gave them to a friend of mine who has a Zune. He liked the splitter that came with them that enables you to share a movie or a song with a friend but thought that the sound was so so compared to the ear buds that came with his Zune Media Player.

For the money you get above average sound and if you buy them just for your Zune you get the ear phone splitter. Well worth the money for a Zune owners.

I don't really have anything good to say about these (except the good price).



My complaints (thus far):

1) Sound quality is terrible.. it seems like the "treble" is cranked way up, and the "bass" is turned way down. Songs with a lot of bass in particular sound pretty awful (and this isn't something I'm particularly picky about. I haven't had problems with other headphones)

2) The cord length is very odd. It seems to get in my way when I'm working out on a treadmill (again, I have never had this issue w/headphones before).

3) The headphones have a tendency to fall out of my ears (especially when I'm working out/sweating). This got especially annoying today when the headphones would stay in my ears for maybe 10 seconds and then start sliding out.



I definitely DO NOT recommend this product.

I've tried a lot of earphones and I don't like the sound in these as much as the headphones that came with the Zune HD. I saw them here on Amazon - $10 including shipping, so a good deal. However, they aren't any good for moving around. The earpiece does seal around the ear, but when moving it constantly comes out. Plus, the unit is sensitive to touch, so you hear any rubbing or even the vibration of feet when walking. Bottom line is that both my wife and I find the basic Zune headphones sound better.
