This camera has lots of features and can do just about anything a camera needs to do. It's actually more complicated that I was looking for. The auto adjustment feature takes blurry pictures sometimes so you have to find the right setting for some pictures. I would highly recommend this camera for people who don't mind adjusting the camera settings for each shot. For someone with a kid, it's probably not the best because by the time you get the camera setup, your kids off doing something else.

i spent days researching the internet for a new camera. this is the one i purchased and i'm glad i did. the pictures are beautiful and the features are great. i love the face recognition and the smile detection. it is great for capturing pictures of small children. i still haven't figured out all the features though, but it has easy functions that do all the focusing for you. also, the screen on the back is wonderful. the only thing i would say is that i agree with the people who say it's not much to hold on to. overall, this is an awesome camera for a super price!

This camera replaces a Sony cybershot that I bought five years ago. The technology has advanced significantly since then. The biggest advance has been in the algorithms for processing the images (correcting for lighting, vibrations, and scene selection). I bought this camera right before a trip to Europe, and am overwhelmed with the high quality of the images (great colors). The camera and the charger are also both nice and compact. In general this is an excellent point and shoot camera that works wonderfully under most situations using the automatic mode. The only problem with these newer cybershots is that they lack a manual mode which is nice to have for more advanced users when taking difficult shots. Setting up the fill-in flash is a little non-intuitive. This option used to be under the "flash" button (auto/none/fill-in) but no longer exists there. Now you just need to select the twilight portrait mode. (This is usually not selected by auto-mode in dark situations). Otherwise, it is a great camera for the general user.

Sony makes a great camera .. I own several..but I will not buy another small digital that does not use an SD card as an option. This is becoming a standard in point and shoot digitals and I will not buy any more sony pro duo memory sticks. Sony is losing out on my future business if this does not change.

I was going to get a Canon camera at first since it's a well-known and respected brand but decided to give Sony another try (I own a Sony camera which I like but wanted more megapixels to work with). Let me tell you this camera is well worth the price, it has a lot of nice features to it, all the pics are really clear and in bright vivid colors, tried different settings and they all seem to work just fine producing fine quality photos. I actually compared the quality of the pics to my friend's taken with Canon camera (the one I wanted)on the same occasion - mine came out way better!!!!!!! My advice is not to overpay for the name, there are nice quality products out there that will not empty your wallet completely!

I live in Venezuela, and I received the camera 2 days ago... It's great! Im loving it! It's easy to use, the smile shutter works better than I spected, the macro shoot function works very nicely... And the high sensibility ISO 3200 improves a lot the shoots in certain places.



I also tried plugging it to the TV and making a slideshow with music and visual effects!



Im very pleased with the camera and the price is more than just for all the great functions of it.



It will be a great tool for my blog and my futures vacations. I totally recomend it.

I recently purchased this camera and I have to say that I am quite impressed. I am just a causal picture taker so I was looking for a camera that was easy to use and this is perfect. The pictures come out crystal clear and the camera is so easy to use. I love the LCD screen. For me the screen is large enough to take a quality picture. The buttons are easy to use and camera itself is very sleek and extremely lightweight. I read through the instruction manual to get an idea of how to use some of the more complicated features but if you don't have time for this it's okay. The auto shoot mode is great!



I only have one issue with this camera. It only holds like 15MB of data which is nothing. I was just playing around with the camera and took like three pictures and a message came up that the memory was full! Not good...so I HAVE to buy a Sony Memory Stick so I can save my pictures. I really do feel this should have been included with the camera.



Other than that this is an amazing camera and I would recommend it to anyone!

Bought this a few weeks ago to get summertime shots of our kids. We absolutley love this camera. High quality pictures. What i love is that the screen tells you what each setting does as you change the dial. Idiot proof. I also love that you can take photos in a streeming shot - most of the ones we have tried are always on a delay and you miss the timing when you are trying to get action shots of the kids. This camera has a setting so that you can just hold the button in and it takes a series of pictures. Really like this device - hope it is reliable.

We love this camera. It is easy to use and takes great pictures. The battery last a long time and we love how it slips into the charger and then you just plug the charger into the outlet. No bothering with AA batteries which I believe run down too fast. I recommend this camera to anyone and the price is right!

OK, I have come into the 21st century by shooting the last role of film on my dinosaur Canon. I've never had a digital camera before, never shot one, didn't know squat about any of them, so I perused all the dozens of cameras looking for the ones with all 5 star reviews or next best.



This camera had stellar reviews, so I bought it. Yes, it takes fantastic pictures, but NO MEMORY STICK is included! I had a permit to climb Mt. Whitney this week and the weather was holding, but had to cancel due to not having a shoot-ready camera! We contacted Sony, they said there was enough memory in the camera for 96 pictures. Great, I rescheduled the hike, but after Sony walked us through setting it up for the 96 pictures, the camera would not give us those. I took 3 which should have given us a balance of 93, but it knocked down to 62, then refused to let us take any more pictures.



When you order this camera you're not getting it all. Memory sticks start at $44.95 up to $149.95, so factor those costs into the cost of this camera. Biting my nails hoping Sony Fed-Ex's the memory stick in time for my hike next week!



When I get the thing up and running, I will edit this review and probably give it another 5-star review, but I'm highly pissed that the fact the camera was not shoot-ready was not posted in big, bold red letters or something to better catch your attention. The Product Info does say Memory Stick not included, but for a digital newbie like me, I wasn't familiar with the termonology.



It's small as a pack of playing cards which is great for hiking as it is light weight enough to carry and to pack.



OK, got the memory stick by Fedex who, per tracking, let it languish in Chicago for TWO DAYS! Pony Express is cheaper and more reliable than Fed Ex.



Took the camera to Mt. Whitney yesterday. The moon was setting behind a peak at 3:30AM with violent storm clouds swirling about it like a horror movie. For the heck of it, shot some pictures. Wow, not only did it take quality pictures in the dead of night, but they came out fantastic enough to make a poster of. It looked as if the moon was arising out of Hell and on fire. Then to the east horizon the ISS was streaming for the sun which had not even arisen, turning gold. The camera picked up the tiny speck of light that was the ISS.



Love it, can't stop taking pictures of EVERYTHING! If my 87 yr old mother learns to use this camera and likes it, I'll buy one for her.

I have had this camera for more than a month, if you want a basic digital camera that is not confusing and takes great pictures this is an ideal camera. If you want good movie capture than stay away, this is for taking photos not video although the video can be good if indoors and good lighting. I like the ability to choose between HD and SD easily and has the ability to take HD photos in 16:9 format for viewing on wide screen HD tv's I have done that a bit and found the pictures to be crystal clear, I have a 55" sony HDTV and if you are concerned about your pictures looking grainy when blown up, Don't.

I feel very happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for digital camera for under $200. I have no regrets. I wanted a camera to take great HD photos, quality optics, 4x optical zoom and compatible with my other media. I would rate this camera above average in photo quality and speed of use. I did not give this a five star rating because the burst mode is not very fast and I would have liked a few more features like more complex settings for iso and focus adjustments but then again I was not expecting a full feature set for a non SLR under $200. Very strong Value for the dollar you will enjoy, PS, I am using sandisk pro duo memory sticks and works just fine, Sandisk is so much less expensive than the actual sony pro duo's

This camera was a real disappointment and I will be looking to replace it. It has no view finder so outdoor shots in bright sun are very difficult because you can't see the display well. I also felt the picture quality was very poor and grainy. I expected 12 MP to produce stunning clarity but it this camera does not. My older Gateway 4 MP camera is super sharp but a bit large and slow. Again if you are looking for clarity don't purchase this camera. Oh it is small and fast so I guess that's something.

I bought this last month to replace my older cybershot, and am impressed with the upgrades Sony has made to this line.



What I love:

* The automatic "Easy" mode is quite good, great for those times when you need a quick shot of something you weren't expecting, or for beginners who don't like playing with settings.



* Wide angle zoom



* indoor shots look great, even under incandescent bulbs



* Closeups give good detail. Flowers and insects make good models.



* Connects to my HDTV to show off photos



* Ultra compact, easy to carry



* Great battery life





What I hated:



* No SD card support, this is a Sony product so it will only use Sony's proprietary media, which is more expensive.



* While the battery is great, I'd still prefer AA rechargables, since buying an AA battery is easier than finding an outlet while traveling.



* Lens has some color issues in the wide angle end, as well as soft corners



* Zoom moves in large steps, what if I want in-between?



* Menu system is confusing



* No optical viewfinder, meaning I always have to use LCD. Would be nice to save on batteries sometimes.



This little camera suits me well, and I've been using it over my canon elph. I have nicer cameras, but I never seem to have them when the most interesting things in my life happen. Compatcs, like this guy, are with me all the time. And with 12P to work with, I can still make large prints like I would with my better cameras.
